The Mexico City Light Rail will reduce its service hours due to maintenance work prior to the 2026 World Cup, for which the Estadio Banorte (formerly Azteca), located near its stations, will be one of the venues. The Mexico City Electric Transport Service (STE) reported that the service adjustments are due to the implementation of a railway traffic regulation and control system, as well as comprehensive work to maintain all stations. Therefore, schedule adjustments are expected from Monday to Friday affecting the entire service from Tasqueña to Xochimilco. What will be the new schedule for the CDMX Light Rail? From Monday to Friday, the Light Rail service will be from 5:00 to 22:00 on the Las Torres to Xochimilco route. Remember that the Tasqueña station, which connects with Metro Line 2, has been closed since last year due to remodeling work. From 22:00 until 23:00, the service will be exclusively with buses from the Passenger Transport Network (RTP), which will cover the entire route from Tasqueña to Xochimilco. Please note that this is the type of service according to the Monday to Friday schedule: 5:00 to 22:00: Light Rail service from Xochimilco to Las Torres and RTP service from Las Torres to Tasqueña round trip. 22:00 to 23:30: RTP service on the entire route from Tasqueña to Xochimilco round trip. The Light Rail closures occur less than two months before the opening match of the 2026 World Cup between Mexico and South Africa at the newly remodeled Estadio Banorte, located a few meters from Calzada de Tlalpan. The measure is part of Mexico City's efforts to optimize public transport routes before the World Cup, such as the Tlalpan bike path, which will be inaugurated this Sunday, April 19, with a ride led by Head of Government Clara Brugada.
